Annotation: Drawing on correspondence, scholarly works, and newly discovered archival documents — including the family’s private archive — this monograph reconstructs the life and scholarly career of Nataliia Yustivna Mirza-Avakiants: Ukrainian historian, educator, methodologist, and professor at the Poltava, Kharkiv, and Donetsk (Luhansk) Institutes of Public Education; head of the Department of Ukrainian History at Kyiv University; one of the founders of the Poltava Society for the Study and Preservation of Historical and Artistic Monuments; and a full member of the Kharkiv Research Department of the History of Ukrainian Culture headed by Academician D. I. Bahalii. The study gives particular attention to Mirza-Avakiants’s contributions to women’s history research. A primary bibliography of her works is included. Intended for historians, local history researchers, instructors, students, and all those interested in Ukrainian history.
