Membership in UARWH is voluntary and individual. Members of UARWH may be adult citizens of Ukraine who hold a graduate degree and are engaged in scholarly research and/or educational activities in the field of women’s and/or gender history, have original scholarly research and publications in the relevant area, share the organization’s mission, and contribute to the fulfillment of its objectives.
Application Process
Admission of new members is based on a written application and requires a recommendation from a current UARWH member.
Candidates for membership in UARWH must also submit the following required documents to the Board:
- a completed registration form (standard form);
- a full list of their scholarly publications;
- the full text of one scholarly publication in the field of women’s or gender history (in Ukrainian).
Applications for membership in UARWH are reviewed collectively within two weeks of receipt. Decisions regarding membership are adopted by a majority vote of UARWH members. The Board may establish additional membership requirements.
Honorary Membership
An Honorary Member of UARWH may be any person, regardless of citizenship, who has made an exceptional contribution to the development and promotion of Ukrainian women’s and gender history. Honorary membership is granted for life by a decision of the General Assembly, upon nomination by a current UARWH member, and includes the presentation of a commemorative award bearing the UARWH logo, the honoree’s name, the inscription “Honorary Member of UARWH,” and the year of conferral.
Rights and Responsibilities of UARWH Members
All UARWH members are equal in the exercise of their rights and responsibilities.
Members of the Association have the right to:
- elect and be elected to the governing bodies of UARWH;
- participate in all events organized by UARWH;
- express their views and make proposals regarding UARWH’s activities;
- receive information about UARWH’s current activities;
- receive informational and scholarly-methodological support from UARWH;
- terminate their membership in UARWH (by submitting a written statement addressed to the President of UARWH).
Members of the Association are obligated to:
- abide by the provisions of the UARWH Charter;
- contribute to the achievement of UARWH’s mission and objectives;
- comply with the decisions of UARWH’s governing bodies;
- pay entry and membership fees in the amounts and within the deadlines established by the UARWH Board.
Termination of Membership
Membership in UARWH is terminated upon voluntary withdrawal, death, or expulsion.
Grounds for expulsion from UARWH include repeated violations of the Charter; non-participation in UARWH’s activities for at least twelve (12) months; and systematic failure to pay membership fees. Decisions regarding expulsion are made by the UARWH Board by a majority vote.
