Mizhnarodnyi zhinochyi den — i100riia u fotohrafiiakh [International Women’s Day — History in Photographs] (photo album). (2012). UNDP.
Annotation: This photo album grew out of the exhibition of the same name, held in March 2011 at the Ukrainian House in Kyiv, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, and with the assistance of the State Service of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, on the occasion of the centenary of International Women’s Day.
The album contains 100 unique photographs reflecting significant changes in the lives of women in Ukraine over the past century. It is an attempt to make visible the role of ordinary Ukrainian women — women who did not seek to “make history,” yet who made history through their lives. At the same time, it is an attempt to see women within the context of their own time.
The introductory essay — “Reclaiming One’s Own Past: Women’s History as a Source of Strength for the Contemporary Women’s Movement in Ukraine” — was written by Oksana Kis.
