Annotation: This monograph traces the development of women’s history studies as an organic component of the Ukrainian historiographical process from the second half of the nineteenth through the first third of the twentieth century. Scholarly works devoted to women, examining their social roles, legal and family status, and place in historical events are analyzed as a timely scholarly response to the social transformations of the era and the flourishing of cultural and national revival. The feminist models presented in historical, legal-historical, historiographical, sociological-ethnological, and cultural studies works are examined in light of the Romantic and Positivist traditions in Ukrainian historiography, as well as the influence of European humanistic thought.
