Annotation: Drawing on a broad range of historical sources, this monograph examines the legal status of Ukrainian women from the Princely era through the mid-seventeenth century. Using concrete historical evidence and engaging with the scholarship of international historians, the author analyzes the legal dimensions of Ukrainian women’s public and family life within a broader European context, as well as Cossack customs and traditions relating to women. The study revisits established interpretations and develops a new, impartial perspective on women’s place and role in Ukrainian history.

This book makes an attempt to show the lawful position of the Ukrainian women from the great prince epoche up to the middle of the XVII сentuгу. The author trys to analyse in the all-European context the lawful aspects of public & family life of the Ukrainian women, ways. habits and traditions of the cossacks relating with the faminine.
The work overlooks the previous evaluations and put forward a new, quite unprejudiсed point оf view оn the women’s role in Ukrainian History.
